Dutch artist Judith Haas makes jewelry using keum-boo, a traditional Korean technique that fuses pure silver and 24k gold into intricate surface designs, arranged in abstract geometric patterns.
Alongside her jewelry, she creates fine art with copper alloys finished in colorful patinas, built through patinating, painting and abrasing. Inspired by the decaying industrial buildings surrounding her Williamsburg, Brooklyn studio, the work explores how nature quietly reclaims human-made structures, contrasting rigid grids of infrastructure with organic decay to create a visual dialogue between control and chance.
